My name is James and im from north Florida Jacksonville. I started carving oct 2010. I am a tree surgeon by trade since I was 16 yrs old. I have 6 wonderful children God blessed me with. As we all know the economy is pretty sad right now. I decided to give carving a try. Well with Gods guidance and a few pictures I set out to try it. I started with palm trees and have evolved to primarily cedar wood.
        Cedar is a great wood to use because it is resillant to weather, it is resistant to insects, and it is full of character and color. It is kind of hard to get ahold of, and larger pieces tend to have some decay in the center, but well worth it. I also use polyurethane and high grade exterior paints, sometimes polyurathane on all my carvings.
       I am to be able to look at a picture or small figure and replicate them very well. My carvings average around $100.00 a foot. I am looking forward to some more commissioned work. I have currently done several stump pieces and hope to do more.  Anyway I hope you enjoy your original cedar chainsaw carving.
